With a little help from Luke, here is my version and hope of the Christmas story.
“Do not be afraid; for see – I am bringing you good news of great joy for all the people; to you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is the Messiah, the Lord.
Glory to God in the Highest Heaven, for to you…” the people of the world, to the people of Richmond, born on this day is the hope and joy that carry you.
Born on this day is the Christ Child, the Messiah who brings you peace and love.
He is wrapped in bands of cloth, however from now and forever, He has wrapped his arms around you. Do not be afraid to feel those arms of love and know that no matter what happens, no matter how hard it is, no matter how dark it may be; the Christ Child is beside you, to carry you and love you, for all the days of your life.
The Shepherds, the animals, the townspeople, the ridiculed and judged; the poor and hungry; the hurt and lonely; the incarcerated and the free; the depressed and meek; know that you are loved and this Gift has been given unto you….
For on this day, the angels bring you good news of great joy, for you….for all of you.
Mary treasured all these words and pondered them in her heart.
May you also treasure all of these words and ponder them in your heart.
